The format of the exam in 2026 will be fully virtual (online), in two parts:

1. Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) paper – 110 questions
This paper has been scheduled for April 20th, 2026 and will be delivered online with remote proctoring, in collaboration with the commercial examination provider CYIM. The exam is usually accessible from any private location with a reliable internet connection. Equipment requirements are available here. A trial connection will be arranged in the weeks prior to the exam. Passing the MCQ paper is essential in order to progress to the structured oral assessment part.

2. Structured Oral Assessment (SOA) – 6 stations
The SOA is scheduled for June 5th, 2026 and will be delivered online. Only candidates who have successfully passed the MCQ paper will be eligible to sit this part of the examination.

More details are available in the 2026 Examination General Document.

For logistical reasons, the number of candidates that can be accommodated in the ECMGG 2026 will be limited to 60. Priority will be given to candidates from UEMS member nations. Non-medical graduates are not eligible to sit the ECMGG.

Payment of the exam fee will be requested after the medical qualifications have been checked.
